Anavar, Deca, Testosterone, BPC 157/TB500, plenty of protein, Omega 3, daily vitamins, hydrating, stretching, cardio and resistance training. Obviously there's other things like cold plunge and Cryo, sauna, Yoga, supplements, etc... You gotta really take care of yourself as you age when training regularly, especially when you have a lot of competition guys at your academy, and you yourself compete, and sometimes in higher weight classes and age groups younger just to be able to compete at all. This shit is hard on the body. It brings out the best in me, so I don't give a shit if I gotta be on a little gear and do a bunch of extreme shit to feel good enough to hang with everyone in the gym. I'll do whatever tf it takes.

Accurate. I struggled with triangles. I was explained the technique, but couldnt grasp the why. Which made me fail at triangles. Once i got the why, i submitted someone in my first roll, no additionally drilling, with a triangle. But i grasped the arm bar concept, but the technique wasnt there. It was broken down for me, and bam. Got it right

If you grape vine someone with enough power to injure yourself you need to look inwards and fix some things. It's not even a good control, chase more technique and relax more.

Guys I'll call in soon when I can afford to top up my pre-paid credit. My question mostly revolves around how to get my brown belt and whether you think my coach is waiting for me to choose the fork in the road; fat and bald or jacked and tatted.

I got my first stripe on my white belt yesterday. I'm not going to lie, I really enjoyed getting a stripe. It felt good to have a measured mark on my journey so far in BJJ. At my gym, stripes for white belt are time based (20 classes) and stripes for upper belts are technical based. No one pays fees for stripes or belts. I find the stripes most helpful though when I'm looking around my class to know who is brand new and who is someone who has got some experience. I tend to ask questions and look for feedback from those who have more stripes. Of course I go to higher belts but if I'm on the mat and I have a quick question and see a 4 stripe white belt next to me. I'll ask him. I've read the comments and I wouldn't mind the approach of only white belts having stripes. I think that the first year of BJJ has so many evolutions of a practitioner it makes sense to break it up into sub sections (stripes). After white belt though, gains in skill and knowledge are longer frames of time so stripes don't make too much sense.

Belt this ...belt that...belt belt...people should only concern themselves about the things they need to learn and master...the belt will come when it will come.....the moment you are consistently submitting the belt above you - in your head it's already a recognition of your advancement in your training - the color means something, yeh, but not all the time....get your game in check ,don't chase the color

I've been in a Gracie Jiu-Jitsu gym for about 2.5 months (Got my first stripe yesterday). I really like the combative course and the way that it's structured. Friction testing is built into the program and it progresses to higher and higher intensity as you go through it. I agree that any form of self defense without friction testing it is useless. I'm currently doing some training for my first competition and I've already noticed some big behavior differences between when I'm defending against a striking attacker vs countering BJJ techniques where striking isn't a concern. I wrestled for a couple years in high school and one critique I have BJJ is the lack of explosive and effective takedowns. You never know what kind of situation you will be in if you're forced to defend yourself so I agree that learning effective striking is important to be well rounded in any situation. Tons of fights go to the ground though whether you want to or not so you better have lots of tools there.

Started jiujitsu a year ago. I've had a fractured rib, torn abductor, few dislocated knee caps, dislocated collar bone and now I have a neck issue, probably a small hernia. I love it though... My mind has never been better. But I skateboarded, bmx, mountain bike and been working for many years now, so injuries are just part of it. It just sucks to have to take some time to heal. But every time I stopped it seemed like my bjj got better.

Watching BJJ is like competitive chess. Only people who can play a decent amount of chess can understand what’s going on. MMA, every single person can tell who is winning, more or less. You don’t have to be an expert to see who is getting beat up.
